Day 1: Arrival-Kibale Forest National Park
At the time of arrival at the airport the company guide will drop off the car at the agreed destination & time to enable you embark on the self drive adventure to kibale national park. The drive takes about 4-5 hours drive and reach in afternoon time which can offer you guided village walk in the local communities. Meals and over night at Kibale Forest Camp a stunning location overlooking a dramatic Crater Lake and the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”. Evening cultural visit around the crates is amazing.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking-Kibale Forest
Early morning trek for chimpanzees. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa to view chimps, a thick jungle with a towering canopy. In the afternoon, drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing en-route. Dinner and overnight at spectacular Bush Lodge .
Day 3: Transfer-Game Drive Queen Elizabeth National Park
Dawn game drive in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. Famous for elephant and kobs, expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hog. There are 638 recorded bird species in the park! After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffalo and hippo. Dinner and overnight at spectacular, perched right on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the Uganda great Lakes and Maramagambo forest respectively.
Day 4: Game Drive-Visit the Salt Lakes -Queen Elizabeth
Early morning after break fast head for the game drive in the park with visitation to the salt lakes and Local Communities, there is an option of identifying the best local home and you stay with them the entire day to be able to understand their way of life of the locals. The Selection is based on the clients interest and self drive Uganda will have to be informed in advance to be able to inform the home that will be hosting you.
Day 5: Transfer-Bwindi Forest National Park
Today’s drive is through Ishasha Southern sector which is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which live the mountain gorillas, drive to Bwindi via the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds. Dinner and over night at Buhoma Rest Camp. However Self drive travelers are advised to book the gorilla permits in advance.
Day 6 : Gorilla Trekking-Bwindi
Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. Day 7: Departure-Kampala
Return to Kampala, then Entebbe, with lunch en-route and stop over at Equator Uganda before your evening departures home. Meal plan.
